Today, let us learn meaning of the phrase “you wait “.
A: 地铁里听到一个女孩大概是给男朋友打电话，“我已经快到了，你快出来往地铁站走。如你到了，我还没到，你就等着吧。如果我到了，你还没到，你就等着吧。”
I heard a girl in the subway call her boyfriend, “I’m almost there, you go out to the subway station. If you arrive, I haven’t arrived, you wait. If I arrive, you haven’t arrived, you wait.”
B: 这句话我听得懂，但是意思有点搞不明白，特别是“你等着吧”，我头晕了。
I can understand this sentence, but the meaning is a little confused, especially “you wait”, I feel dizzy.
A: 前面的“你等着吧”是字面意思：你等等我。后面“你等着吧”有点威胁的意思，或者开玩笑威胁，意思是你就等着瞧吧，我会给你点颜色看看。
The formal “you wait” means literally: you wait for me. The latter “you wait” has a little threatening, or joking threatening, which means you just wait and see, and I will teach you a lesson.
B：原来是这样啊，男孩子不能让女孩子等，否则要被女孩子惩罚啊！
It turns out that boys can’t let girls wait, or they will be punished by girls!
